Our namesake is Theodore Roosevelt, naturalist, author, rancher, soldier and statesman. Terrariums were all the rage when Roosevelt was our 26th President in the late 1890s and early 1900s.

Roosevelt was a friend and supporter of John Muir's efforts to protect our national wonders. As president, Roosevelt set aside millions of acres of public land to be maintained as national parks and wilderness areas.
